Parish Pastoral Council
Purpose:
- The Parish "Vision Statement" is: Becoming One Family in Christ.
- The purpose of the Council is primarily pastoral - to assist the Pastor in continuing to meet the needs of the Parishioners. It is not a committee representing different organizations.
- Council members must have sufficient time for this important ministry.
- The Priests and Deacons are permanent members of the council.
- Nominees should: 1) have the needs of the parish in mind; 2) have the ability to work with others; 3) be able to listen to parishioners and their needs, be open to new ideas; 4) be able to delegate; and 5) have a strong relationship with God and be actively practicing the Catholic Faith.
Method of Selection:
- Any parish member may nominate any member of the parish, including himself or herself.
- Members will not represent any organization, but all council members will have the interest of the whole parish at heart.
- Those nominated will be given the option to accept or decline the nomination.
- Those accepting the nomination will be required to attend a workshop which will explain he theology of the church, their and obligations and duties as council members. After their orientation sessions, nominees may still decline to run for membership.
- A committee from the present council will then select the two replacement council members and two alternates.
- Members will be asked to serve for three years, with the possibility of re-selection for one more term only.
- Nominees from the last year who are still interested are encouraged to apply for re-nomination.
